ROBERT BEAMISH
President, Ellipsis Ventures

Rob is a Professional Engineer well versed in the importance of collaboration as part of organizational strategy to advance technology and science. He brings 25+ years of experience and in-depth understanding of business operations, management strategy and product design.

Prior to co-founding Ellipsis Ventures and Stratavera Partners, Rob was Vice President, Operations with Calgary Technologies Inc. where he worked with a wide variety of clients from the information technology, engineering and life sciences sectors. Many of the initiatives he led were based on collaboration between academic institutes, multiple levels of government and private sector clients. His experience in consolidating fragmented services and establishing better tracking systems is particularly relevant to his current work with public and private sector organizations alike.

At Ellipsis and previously at Stratavera, Rob spearheads technology-enabled innovations. He helps clients understand how knowledge is structured from a strategic point of view, and how this applies to using appropriate technologies. Clients also value Rob's insights into how different technologies can help influence and improve workflow processes and how change management processes can ease their implementation.

Rob contributes his expertise through several volunteer positions. Rob is a board member for the Ability Society and vice-chair, finance for the University of Calgary's Environmental Design Alumni Advisory Committee. Rob also lectures on strategic planning at the U of C's Faculty of Medicine. When Rob isn’t volunteering or working, he can be found on a snowboard or a bike, trying to keep up to his children.
